Our Parihaka

Kia ora bloggers.

Te Waka Ako had to dress up into white clothes to remember Parihaka. We had to make a head band and draw designs on to them and then we had to measure them to check our size. Then after that we had to put feathers on it we could only put 1,2 or 3 feathers and then we had to tape it on to our head band. Parihaka was about the maori land was taken in 1860,s from many maori tribes two leaders-Te whiti-o-rongomai and tohu kakahi set up a settlement for Maori  who lost their land and homes. When the goverment wanted to take this land aswell they protested in a non-violent way They wore the white plume feather to reperesent peace.!

The fun trip to the museum

Kia ora bloggers.

Last Tuesday Te Waka Ako went on a school trip to the Auckland museum. We went there to recap about volcanoes. The trip was only for year 5 and year 6s there was 3 groups and 2 whole buses. There was these 2 poeple that lead us around the museum there names were Tom and Jenna it took us around 12 or 15 minutes to get there in the buses. There was lots of interesting facts about the dinosaurs and about Auckland. I like the museum because its got lots of intresting things to look at and read about

My favourite part about the museum was the pacific room because there was lots of cultures i have never heard of.

Have you been to the Auckland Museum?

student fun day

At student fun day, it was amazing and parching! There was bounce castels, water slide, races. The bounce castel was as bouncey as a trampoline and it was exhausting.

On the water slide it was slippery. It was really fun but really freezing! When I went on to the slide, all the foam went in my eys. and the water went in my eye to it was stinging when we were done with the slipen slide we wnet to go get hosed to get all the soap off us. And then we went in the pool while the other group goes on the slip in slide in the pool we got to see all of the kid’s go down the slip in slide. Some of the teacher’s like Mr Hing-Windsor and Miss Sands went down the slide. I,t looked like they had so much fun i had so much fun to.
